Kevin McCloud, TV presenter, designer and writer, will present the SPAB Heritage Awards at a November 2022 event at Conway Hall in London, the beautiful 1920’s home of the Ethical Society.

The Fellowship fosters outstanding craftspeople with the skills for working with historic buildings. After a year's delay due to the pandemic, Fellows Toby, Thom, Tom and Oliver have now completed their conservation tour of the UK. 

Thanks to a generous bequest we can repair this important mill and provide training in millwrighting, an endangered craft.

We recently supported proposals to install solar panels and two air source heat pumps at this Grade I listed medieval church

The next Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Society will be held on Tuesday 7th December 2021, 1.30-2pm.

To John Ruskin Lincoln Cathedral was “the most precious piece of architecture in the British Isles”. One of its most celebrated features is the carved Romanesque frieze on the façade and we are deeply concerned about its future. 

We are delighted to be hosting two forthcoming online sessions on the IHBC helpdesk during COP26. The IHBC@COP26 ‘Conservation Helpdesk+’ is a free virtual event hosted by the IHBC (Institute of Historic Building Conservation) as a Zoom meeting. It is open to visitors each day of COP26 (31 October-12 November) from 3pm-8pm local time, offering guidance and special features. We hope to see you there.

The potential repair of these beautiful but sadly neglected structures is a long running SPAB case. We are increasingly concerned at their rapid deterioration; in June 2021 part of the roof over the 17th-century bay collapsed. Unless urgent action is now taken to help these listed buildings, the situation will become critical.

We were recently consulted about works to repair the Grade II* listed almshouses in Cornwall. We were impressed by the detailed and comprehensive application.

It's Remember a Charity week so we're spotlighting the work that has been made possible by gifts in wills in 2021. This year we began repairs to Kibworth Harcourt post mill, the last of its kind in Leicestershire. Thanks to a gift in a will we are able to bring this mill back into use.
