Event details

Thursday 25 June, 2pm - 4pm

Join the SPAB Sussex Group on a very special visit to Blake’s Cottage in the coastal village of Felpham, the former home of the artist and poet William Blake (1757 – 1827). Built around 1690 in the vernacular of flint and cobble with a thatched roof it's been extended and altered over the years.

By 2024 the cottage was in a highly precarious condition, with parts of the roof collapsed and structural damage threatening the survival of the cottage. A new board of trustees was formed, funding obtained from the NLHF and the roof has been repaired and rethatched.

Chair of the Board now caring for the cottage, Doug Nicholls, will talk to us about the history of the cottage, the work they have done on it, and their plans for the internal renovation work, and then take us round the cottage.

Accessibility

There is a small historic two storey house.
