22 May 2019 10.30-16.00.
Meet at Tewkesbury Abbey at 10.30 am in the Abbey café, ready for a guided tour at 11.00am around the Abbey. Followed by a private visit to see Andrew Stuart’s fascinating medieval cottage at 82 Church Street (currently for sale). Bring a picnic lunch or have lunch in one of the many cafes in town. At 2.30pm we will meet at The Hop Pole Hotel. This notable building has a 14th-century accommodation range for the Abbey, a 15th-century open hall and 16th-century painted rooms. There will be a chance to see areas not normally accessible to the public, by kind arrangement with Nick Joyce.
Cost £18.50 to include the guided tour around the Abbey and a donation to SPAB Gloucestershire.
Bookings to be online via the SPAB website and this visit is being arranged by Caroline Bodger (email firstname.lastname@example.org with any queries).
About the Gloucestershire Regional Group
Lynne Pardoe, Group Organiser, says "It was ten years ago when I came to live in Gloucestershire and, surprised by the absence of a SPAB group, I started one. Since then its gone from strength to strength, with a steady core of regular attenders and an ever changing background of newer members. Since I don’t work in the field of conservation I rely on suggestions to arrange visits which don’t usually open for the public and thankfully, because I’ve been running it so long people know me and will make suggestions, or offer up their own properties for a visit. I love this."
