Join the Sussex Group for a SPAB member exclusive - a tour of Cowdray House, a grand Tudor home destroyed by fire in 1793.
We will be hosted by Cowdray Heritage Trust general manager Gemma Butterfield on a tour of parts of the ruins not normally seen by visitors, and Gemma will speak about some of the history. David Wyatt, the estate’s construction team manager, and Simon Clark who has undertaken inspections of the ruins, will attend and refer to some of the technical aspects.
We will end in the visitor centre for tea or coffee.
You will need
Clothing suitable for October. Hard hats will be provided.

Accessibility
The visit involves walking over uneven ground and grass, with steps and changes in level. Access to the Tudor kitchen involves a step and a tight turn, which may prevent entry for wheelchair users. The upstairs tower room is reached by a spiral staircase.
