Join the Greater Manchester Group for the latest in their 'Journey of a Master Craftsperson' series - a talk by decorative artist and restorer Phyllis Smith, who will share her journey from fine art student to specialist craftsperson working on some of the UK's most ambitious conservation projects.

Phyllis Smith, specialist decorative artist and restorer who have worked on many private and public projects will talk about her journey from early days of her career till today.

Before working on the Manchester Town Hall project, Phyllis worked on a range of  restoration projects featuring painting styles from different periods; from Charles Jencks’ famous post-modern cosmic house, now a museum in London, to St. Mary’s church in Long Crichel in Dorset where she revived the Victorian wood graining.

Alongside her restoration work, she has applied traditional and contemporary painting styles in various public and private projects. No stranger to working on big ambitious projects in Manchester, she was part of the team who marbled more than 500 pillars in the new wing of Trafford Centre, Barton Square.

The Greater Manchester Group 'Journey of A Master Craftsperson' series aims to hear the untold story of craftspeople who are masters in their field with years and years of experience. Please stay tuned for more in the pipleine.
