Lime Burning on Lismore - Save the Date

Date: 5-8th June 2020

Venue: The Lismore Bunkhouse and Campsite, Isle of Lismore, PA34 5UG

Price: TBC

After a successful Scottish Working Party in 2019 on the Isle of Lismore, we will be returning to the island to continue our repair of the double kiln at Park. We will also again be carrying  out small scale lime burning of the local Lismore limestone, to help us establish how we can successfully and sustainably burn the stone to produce a feebly hydraulic lime.

We also hope to have workshops on traditional masonry and Scottish external finishes to masonry buildings.

Building on last years visits to the industrial and religious sites of the island, we will also aim to visit some of the medieval sites.

We do hope you can join us for another year of exploring the rich lime burning history on the west coast of Scotland.

Bursary applications are now open. Please fill in this form and email to scotland@spab.org.uk before 5th May to be considered for a reduced price or free place.

Please make a reservation of your place by registering your interest now. Alternatively, you can sign up to the SPAB Scotland Mailing List and get an advanced booking notification.
