A Collection of Curious Coastal Constructions around Dorset

Event details
Tuesday, 7 November, 7pm - 8pm.
Join this online talk for an entertaining and fascinating insight into the unusual buildings we see along the coast of Dorset.
Our speaker, retired marine archaeologist Gordon Le Pard, has a wealth of local knowledge and anecdotes. You'll hear about chapels that may have been lighthouses and one that was also a dovecote. Churches that were built to guide sailors, a summerhouse built as a castle, and one that became a coastguard lookout. A garden now underwater, and another that reused ancient buildings and ornaments.
And to top it all off, a memorial to a very strange event — a building that was constructed at less than the estimated cost!
This event is free for SPAB Members, who are invited to make a voluntary donation. Non-Members are very welcome to join us. Tickets for Non-Members are £5.
