Built in 1814, Union Mill is a Grade 1 Listed Industrial Building with steep, narrow stairs to the six floors of machinery and displays. Further details are available on the Union Mill website: http://www.unionmill.org.uk/
Our tour will be led by Luke Bonwick, KCC Conservation Officer and Millwrighting Consultant. The third stage of conservation work has just been completed with new shutters fitted and sweeps and fantail restored.
Sissinghurst Castle Garden is just under three miles away and there are numerous cafés and pubs offering lunch in both Cranbrook and Sissinghurst.
The Union Mill is near the centre of the town and there is public car parking nearby or on the surrounding streets.
Disabled access is, unfortunately, extremely limited.
The charge for the event will be £5 per head which includes a cream tea.
Multiple bookings
As long as there is space on the event, we usually allow you to book for both yourself and a guest. When completing the booking form, you will be asked to select the number of people and put in your own details on the first page, then to put in your second person's details on the next page. The event fee shown on each of these pages is for the individual person - you will be shown the total amount due once you get to the summary page.
About the Kent and Surrey Regional Group
The group has run continuously since its foundation in 1994. We aim to hold around 10 to 12 events a year catering for a wide range of interest. Events include visits to buildings undergoing conservation and repair projects to allow members to see conservation in action, buildings and landscapes of historical and architectural interest, and visits to some of south east England’s most significant buildings including behind the scenes tours of Cathedrals, Royal Palaces and major military fortifications.
