Event details
Wednesday 18 June, 7 – 8.30pm
Join the London Group for an exclusive guided tour of Strawberry Hill House. Strawberry Hill House is the neo-Gothic creation of Horace Walpole, in the mid to late 18th century - a forerunner of the Gothic Revival of the Victorian era. The design of the house was informed by Walpole's antiquarianism as well as his Romantic sensibilities. Walpole's "Gothic castle" at Strawberry Hill and his novel, The Castle of Otranto, kick-started the Gothic horror genre, which still continues today. The house opened to the public in 2010, following a major restoration project.
