Conservation work can be approached in many ways.  The SPAB's ideas offer a tried and tested starting point for anyone approaching a conservation problem. These theories underpin much of UK conservation thinking, practice and legislation, yet can sometimes be at odds with other approaches. In this webinar, SPAB Director Matthew Slocombe will explain about the SPAB approach in a modern context, and ways in which the ideas expressed may differ from other conservation philosophies.

Online CPD Sessions

The SPAB launched our series of short, online CPD sessions in 2020. These are specially designed to give you a way to easily meet your CPD requirements and improve your understanding of building conservation during your lunch break or in your own time. A CPD certificate can be issued upon request. The session will be recorded and can be replayed following the live session for up to one week.

You will be emailed the day before the course with information about how to join and a reading list. If you do not receive an email within 24 of the course start time, please check your 'junk' folder. If you recieve no email, please email education@spab.org.uk.

IT requirements: Please note that this is an online course and will be held via a webinar platform called CrowdCast. You will be sent instructions on how to join the session when you book. To participate, all you need is an internet connection, and a laptop, computer or phone with the ability to play video and audio. On android mobiles/tablets, sessions can be accessed via either Chrome for Android or Firefox for Android. Apple mobile/tablet users will need to download the CrowdCast app.
