We’re delighted to welcome an enthusiastic new group of conservation professionals, who will begin their training programmes in March. 

A 16th-century cottage we helped to save has won an award from the Nottinghamshire Buildings Preservation Trust.  

In 2019 we held a Working Party to carry out urgent repairs to Auld Cottage, a modest timber-framed building in Norwell, Nottinghamshire. Auld Cottage had been unoccupied since the 1960s, and locals including SPAB Scholar (1997) Jane Holt and the Norwell Parish Heritage Group were deeply concerned about its rapidly deteriorating condition.

We’re pleased to support a statement from the RICS, Historic England and the Property Care Association.

What a night! We were delighted to welcome over 230 people to our very first SPAB Heritage Awards ceremony at Conway Hall in London.

Three great projects are up for our Philip Webb Award, which recognises schemes that sympathetically revitalise a historic building.   

Overall, we support the proposals to alter this wonderful late 15th-century house, now a local museum, but have suggested improvements.

We are delighted to recognise Lynn Mathias as the winner of the Anthony Goode Award. 

This year’s event was one of our biggest ever. 98 volunteers, specialists and staff gathered to help repair our Old House Project, and neighbouring Boxley Abbey.
