Understanding the differences between traditional construction methods and materials and post-1919 cavity wall buildings is key to the successful repair and maintenance of old buildings. In this session, Douglas Kent, the SPAB’s Technical and Research Director, will give an overview of how traditional buildings were constructed, the materials that were used, and how this affects their performance.

Online CPD Sessions

The SPAB launched our series of short, online CPD sessions in 2020. These are specially designed to give you a way to easily meet your CPD requirements and improve your understanding of building conservation during your lunch break or in your own time. A CPD certificate can be issued upon request. The session will be recorded and can be replayed following the live session for up to one week.
