Pilgrims' Way Walk

Registration is closed for this event
Join us for a walk along part of the Pilgrims' Way as part of the 2022 Festival of Archaeology. We'll be walking from Charing Palace to Boxley Abbey, both in Kent.

Monday 18 July, 9 am - 6 pm

Join us for a walk from the historic Archbishop's Palace in Charing to Boxley Abbey near Maidstone.

Both sites have a strong relationship with the Pilgrims' Way, so a walk between the two is a perfect way to celebrate the 2022 CBA Festival of Archaeology, which is themed around journeys this year.

We'll meet in Boxley, near Maidstone, for a tour of both St Andrew's (former) Chapel, the site of our Old House Project., and nearby Boxley Abbey, the site of this year's Summer Working Party.

We'll then travel together to Charing Palace to start our walk. Those driving can leave their cars in Boxley ready for the end of the walk, and the train stations in Maidstone are just 10 minutes away by car.

We'll stop for lunch at a pub along our route, then continue on the second leg of our journey, aiming to return to Boxley before 6pm. The total distance is around 17 miles.

Those who wish to leave after lunch are welcome to do so, but please note that we won't be able to help with transport back to Boxley.

Places are £10 per person, which includes transport between Boxley and Charing for the start of the walk. Lunch and refreshments are NOT included in the ticket price.

Please register before Tuesday 12 July if you'd like to join us.
