Conservation on the Edge: The Northern Lighthouse Board

Registration is closed for this event
This talk looks at the many lighthouses of Scotland, and how they are repaired and cared for in difficult circumstances. Presented by SPAB Scotland.

The Northern Lighthouse Board (NLB) has been providing Marine Aids to Navigation in Scottish and Manx waters for over two centuries, protecting lives, property and the environment. This talk aims to give an overview of the role and function of the modern service and, through a series of case studies, explore the considerable challenges associated with caring for historic buildings located on the edge of Scotland and the Isle of Man.

Presented by NLB Chief Executive Mike Bullock OBE, and supported by Craig Field and Ally Rae who are both Programme and Renewals Project Leaders and experts in this area.

The lecture will conclude with a Q&A session where both general and more detailed civil engineering questions will be welcomed.

Start Time: 18.00
Finish: 19.30

Conservation on the Edge:
