Maintenance Week 2026

Join us online for this free annual reminder for better building care and how to ready your building for winter.

Friday 9 November – Sunday 15 November

Join us online for this free annual reminder for better building care and how to ready your building for winter.

SPAB’s annual maintenance reminder helps anyone who looks after a building, old or new, get ready for winter. Follow online, check your own building and get free advice from the charity that has championed old buildings since 1877.

What is Maintenance Week?

Maintenance is looking and doing. Regular checks catch problems early and small jobs put them right, which slows decay and saves money as well as historic fabric. As SPAB’s 1877 Manifesto puts it, “stave off decay by daily care”.

Maintenance Week ends with #GuttersDay on 15 November. Spare 10 minutes for any building you care for: five looking at gutters, hopperheads, gullies, slipped slates and plants, then five doing, clearing what you can reach safely and noting anything you’re unsure about.

How to join in

  1. Follow SPAB on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn for daily tips.
  2. Sign up to our newsletter for Maintenance Week content.
  3. Download the Home Maintenance Calendar and check our #GuttersDay checklist.
