Standing at the entrance of the former Royal Dockyard on the Isle of Sheppey, the Church is a Grade ll* listed building dating from 1828 and designed by George Ledwell Taylor, surveyor of Buildings to the Navy.

“The historical value of the church lies in its robust naval architecture; its relationship with the dockyard and the surrounding settlement  that grew up around it, and its place at the heart of the community, where the naval, military and civilians came together”, Dockyard Trust publicity brochure.

The contractors, Coniston Ltd, are on the point of handing over the building to the Sheerness Dockyard Preservation Trust at the end of January after extensive repairs and repurposing as a business hub.

The site manager of Coniston will be with us as will the Chairman and trustees of the Dockyard Trust. Refreshments will be offered at their headquarters at 4 Naval Terrace, Sheerness ME12 1RR.

Places are £15 per head, which includes refreshments. On-street car parking is available.

Multiple bookings
As long as there is space on the event, we usually allow you to book for both yourself and a guest. When completing the booking form, you will be asked to select the number of people and put in your own details on the first page, then to put in your second person's details on the next page. The event fee shown on each of these pages is for the individual person - you will be shown the total amount due once you get to the summary page.

About the Kent and Surrey Regional Group
The group has run continuously since its foundation in 1994. We aim to hold around 10 to 12 events a year catering for a wide range of interest. Events include visits to buildings undergoing conservation and repair projects to allow members to see conservation in action, buildings and landscapes of historical and architectural interest, and visits to some of south east England’s most significant buildings including behind the scenes tours of Cathedrals, Royal Palaces and major military fortifications.
