Visit to Minster Abbey

Visit to Minster Abbey
SPAB Kent & Surrey Group
£7.50 (please bring cash on the day)
Event details
Saturday 23 April, 2pm - 4pm
Minster Abbey is an active monastery located in Thanet in Kent. The nuns have kindly allowed us to visit this ancient site. The tour will be led by John Bailey, the architect for the site, who many Kent & Surrey members will know well.
The first monastery at Minster Abbey was founded in 670. The current monastic buildings date to the 11th century. As well as a tour of areas of the buildings, we will hear a little about modern-day monastic life.
Tea and cake will be on offer following the tour.
The cost of this visit is £7.50 per person. Please bring cash with you on the day, which will be donated directly to the monastery.
Multiple bookings
As long as there is space on the event, we usually allow you to book for both yourself and a guest. When completing the booking form, you will be asked to select the number of people and put in your own details on the first page, then to put in your second person's details on the next page. The event fee shown on each of these pages is for the individual person - you will be shown the total amount due once you get to the summary page.
About the Kent and Surrey Regional Group
The group has run continuously since its foundation in 1994. We aim to hold around 10 to 12 events a year catering for a wide range of interest. Events include visits to buildings undergoing conservation and repair projects to allow members to see conservation in action, buildings and landscapes of historical and architectural interest, and visits to some of south east England’s most significant buildings including behind the scenes tours of Cathedrals, Royal Palaces and major military fortifications.
Accessibility: please contact the Group Organiser before booking to discuss any special access requirements.
