Sussex Group Visit to the Weald and Downland Living Museum

Sussex Group Visit to the Weald and Downland Living Museum
£14 Members
Event details
Friday 19 July, 10am - 5pm.
Join SPAB Sussex for a behind-the-scenes tour of the artefact stores at the Weald and Downland Living Museum, led by Collections Curator Julian Bell.
The collections include domestic fixtures, fittings, and furnishings rescued from local vernacular buildings. Among the fascinating artefacts are historic doors, locks, window furniture and hearth fittings, used around the museum for dressing the buildings, demonstrations or handling.
As part of this visit, we’re encouraging Members to give a short, 10 minute presentation on a subject they’re interested in. Given the location, this could be on vernacular buildings, historic fittings, or the philosophy of relocating old buildings – just to name a few ideas. If you would like to give a talk, please email your ideas to sussex@spab.org.uk.
After the tour and presentations, you will be able to explore the museum and grounds at your own pace before the museum closes at 5pm.
