Event details

13th July 2019

15:30 - 17:30

This year our annual members’ meeting will be at Boxley Abbey, near Maidstone in Kent. On Saturday 13 July at 3.30pm join us for tea and cake in the Abbey’s rose garden, followed by the meeting at 4pm in the impressive medieval hospitium. We’ll enjoy a keynote address from Canterbury Cathedral's archaeologist, Natalie Cohen, and presentations of the SPAB’s awards, plus updates from the SPAB’s director and the chair. 2019’s Scholars and Fellows will also share their experience on their conservation journey so far.

The hospitium will also be the site of our Working Party, and members will be able to see our dedicated volunteers and experts at work. The tea and meeting are free and open to all members and their guests.

Before the meeting we will also be offering tours of the Hospitium and an introduction to the SPAB’s Old House Project at St Andrew’s Chapel. Spaces for the tours are limited - and are now fully booked. For those who missed out, laser scanner operators Terra Measurement will be giving the opportunity to explore the site virtually at the Members' Meeting, with a virtual reality tour.
