Event details

Sunday 14 September, 10.30am

Join the Essex and Suffolk Group for a visit to Copped Hall, a fine Georgian mansion with further interesting phases. It is superbly sited on a ridge overlooking its landscaped parkland. See the current works in progress and areas not normally open to the public.

SPAB has visited Copped Hall many times, the last being in 2022. Since then, a considerable amount of work has taken place.

A considerable amount of work has taken place on the second floor, involving the reconstruction of numerous rooms that incorporate a reference library, administration and educational rooms. We will visit this in small groups throughout the day.

On the ground floor, new lavatories have been installed. The Trust has also received a grant of £57,000 towards the completion of the internal stone staircase, the installation of which was seen in progress in 2022.

Adjacent to Copped Hall are the winter garden and the perron, works on these structures are bringing them back from ruin.

Our tourguide will be Alan Cox, Chair of the Copped Hall Trust.

During the break for lunch in the café, we will hold a brief AGM.
