Helmsley Castle is a Scheduled Monument and Grade I Listed building set in the heart of the market town of Helmsley, North Yorkshire. The site evolved from a medieval fortress into a Tudor mansion, then a Civil War stronghold to romantic Victorian ruin.

The site has been held in state Guardianship since 1923 and is managed by English Heritage (a registered charity since 2015).

Our visit will involve scaffold tours in small groups of the current West Range project with members of the EH project team.

The project includes repair of the historic roof structure and conservation of the external stonework using a range of techniques.

An opportunity to tour the ruins and grounds of the site with EH technical staff will also be included.

Please note: the visit involves visiting a live construction site and accessing structures at height from scaffolding, with access between scaffold levels via standard vertical ladders.

A full health and safety briefing will be provided at the start of the visit.

Attendees should wear appropriate safety footwear and clothing, further PPE can be provided on the day by the contractor team including hard hats and hi-vis vests

Multiple bookings
As long as there is space on the event, we usually allow you to book for both yourself and a guest. When completing the booking form, you will be asked to select the number of people and put in your own details on the first page, then to put in your second person's details on the next page. The event fee shown on each of these pages is for the individual person - you will be shown the total amount due once you get to the summary page.
