Thursday 4 July 2019, 11.00 -

£18.50 per person

We require a minimum of 20 people for this visit

Meet at 11.00am at historic Hellens Manor in Much Marcle, Herefordshire HR8 2LY (“The jewel in the crown of Herefordshire homes”) for tea/coffee & biscuits, followed by a private guided tour around this historic house near Ledbury, to be shown the buildings and contents (including the option of visiting the gardens).  The house is not normally open to the public on a Thursday, so this tour is being arranged specifically for our SPAB group.

The house tour takes approximately one hour and please allow an additional half an hour for the gardens.

Lunch will be available in Hellens Tea Room, with a choice of homemade soup & roll £5 OR homemade quiche with salads and a pudding £12, but must be ordered in advance. More details available after booking.

After lunch, we will meet again at 2.30pm at nearby Aylton Court Tithe Barn HR8 2RQ in the company of Patrick McIlroy, who will explain some of the conservation work that helped to save this important 14th century tithe barn (owned by SPAB members Ian and Rebecca Jones).  Teas and cake will be provided and there will be the opportunity to visit tiny 12th century Aylton church, within easy walking distance.

Multiple bookings
As long as there is space on the event, we usually allow you to book for both yourself and a guest. When completing the booking form, you will be asked to select the number of people and put in your own details on the first page, then to put in your second person's details on the next page. The event fee shown on each of these pages is for the individual person - you will be shown the total amount due once you get to the summary page.

About the Gloucestershire Regional Group
Lynne Pardoe, Group Organiser, says "It was ten years ago when I came to live in Gloucestershire and, surprised by the absence of a SPAB group, I started one. Since then its gone from strength to strength, with a steady core of regular attenders and an ever changing background of newer members. Since I don’t work in the field of conservation I rely on suggestions to arrange visits which don’t usually open for the public and thankfully, because I’ve been running it so long people know me and will make suggestions, or offer up their own properties for a visit. I love this."
