With two months until its first major exhibition, The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) has announced its full speaker line up for The Old House Show.

Taking place at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich over two days, Friday 7 to Saturday 8 September, The Old House Show is for homeowners, professionals, building enthusiasts and craft lovers – and is absolutely free.

Loyd Grossman, a heritage champion and member of the SPAB, will deliver the keynote speech on Friday 7 September. The entrepreneur, writer and broadcaster will be discussing Why Heritage Matters. The talks programme includes contributions from the SPAB, as well as Historic England, National Trust, City & Guilds of London Art School, and a number of senior architects and consultants working in the heritage industry.

The SPAB’s director Matthew Slocombe opens the first morning of the show, setting the scene with William Morris and the SPAB Approach to Historic Buildings. Speakers will be discussing a range of themes, including World Heritage: Conservation at the Old Royal Naval College; craft skills; conservation practice; buildings archaeology; legislation and building control; New Designs for Old Buildings; and Retrofitting Old Buildings for Energy Efficiency: Key Principles; to name but a few.
