After six successful years as Chair of the SPAB, Iain Boyd has come to the end of his term of service. The Society thanks him for his enthusiasm, commitment and dedication. He has helped deliver many valuable innovations and projects, including a new strategy, governance reform, the Old House Project & Show, as well as writing New Design for Old Buildings with Roger Hunt. Iain will be reflecting upon his time as Chair in the summer issue.

We are recruiting for a successor, from within the SPAB's membership. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a new Board of trustees, the director, and dedicated staff and volunteers in order to guide the SPAB through its next phase of development.  Candidates will need to demonstrate firm support for and commitment to the SPAB Approach to conservation, as well as experience of charity or corporate governance, of overseeing organisational growth, of engaging in high-level advocacy within the heritage sector and beyond, and assisting successful fundraising. This is a fulfilling voluntary role that will appeal to a person who enjoys engaging with members and has the skills to continue sustainable growth to support our charitable objectives. Candidates must be a member of the SPAB; able to direct the business of the Board efficiently and effectively; skilled in developing and nurturing productive working relationships; interested in fresh ways of thinking and acting; and keen to nurture positive engagement from volunteers and members.

If this sounds like you then head to the members’ area of the website for a full job description and details of how to apply. The Chair's appointment is for up to three years, and for a maximum of six years.
