To celebrate the life of two young and talented graduate architects from Italy, Gloria Trevisan and Marco Gottardi, who died in the Grenfell Tower fire on 14 June 2017, a concert will be held to raise money for the Gloria e Marco Award. The concert will feature music from Venice and London, and will take place at All Saints, Fulham on Wednesday 13 June at 7pm. An evening of music will be followed by a reception at Fulham Palace. The programme will include: Monteverdi Beatus Vir, Purcell Dido’s Lament and Vivaldi Gloria. The Vox Cordis Choir and Linden Baroque Orchestra will be performing with soloists Kate Ashby and Eleanor Minney, and conductor Oliver John Ruthven. Tickets cost £20 or £45 including Reception. Students tickets are £10 or £25 including Reception. Buy tickets on the door or online.

The SPAB is pleased to support the Gloria e Marco award. Gloria Trevisan and her fiancé Marco Gottardi came to London to find work in early 2017 and were thrilled when they found an affordable flat on the 23rd floor of the Tower. Shortly before the fire in June, conservation architect Peregrine Bryant, a longstanding SPAB supporter and member, had employed Gloria at his practise (Peregrine Bryant LLP). Her colleagues were devastated by her death and that of Marco, mourning the loss of two young people whose work was full of promise.

Peregrine Bryant LLP, and many others, are now determined to make a small, but positive response to the horror of the disaster and have established a memorial fund in the couple’s name. This will provide an annual award to help talented young Italian graduates, interested in conservation, as they were, to come to this country to study and gain experience.
