Windmill

A 5-storey white tower mill, built in 1875-6 for Samuel Dallaway, with unusual round windows. Last worked commercially in 1937. Now restored to working order and maintained by the Stone Cross Mill Trust. The mill has three pairs of millstones, including an unusual pair of French-made burrs. Mills wholemeal flour from local organic grain.

From A22/A27 junction north of Polegate, take A27 east towards Stone Cross. Turn right at roundabout, signposted Stone Cross. Mill is three quarters of a mile, on right beyond traffic lights. Park in Windmill Green, not on track towards mill.
