Eskdale Mill (a water cornmill) is built on an early site, the mill has two external overshot wheels, one in stone bearings, with original wooden machinery, and an oatmeal kiln. It can be seen working daily, and mills animal feed for demonstration. New waterwheel generator also in operation.

Opening Times:

We are open Sundays-Thursdays, 10.30-16.30 from April – Oct. We host award-winning interactive exhibitions and original corn-milling machinery dating back to 1547. There is a well preserved example of an oats drying kiln and working sack hoist. A visit includes picnic areas next to cascades in wooded idyllic grounds and gardens. We are family friendly and dog friendly. Wheelchair access is limited.

As well as our normal exhibitions and working machinery, we’ll have displays about ‘millwrighting – past & present’ and wildflower survey activities in support of our meadow project. Kids go free for one day only! 10.30am-4.30pm.
