Fenland and Wash

Fenland and Wash

The group was set up by a number of enthusiastic members in 2003 to promote SPAB philosophy amongst homeowners and those who work on old buildings. Our area loosely covers Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and South Lincolnshire, although some events are outside this area.

Activities that we organise include visits to properties of interest, talks, conferences and training courses. All are informal events that allow plenty of time for discussion and often end in a pub or tea room.

There is a charge for each event but any surplus is used to further our objectives including sponsoring a student through the historic building conservation course in Cambridge and to kick-start projects to protect buildings in need. The latter have included a warrener’s house and a bone mill, both in Norfolk. We also contribute to SPAB’s Baber emergency repair fund.

All our events are advertised in the SPAB events newsletter (with the SPAB Magazine) and through our own email mailing list. For more information, please contact us fenland.wash@spab.org.uk
