Dorset Group Picnic & Mini Working Party

The SPAB Dorset Group are holding a sociable picnic and working party at the SPAB-owned East Compton churchyard.

Parking and facilities will be kindly provided by the neighbours at Gourds Farm, postcode SP7 0ND. OS grid ref: ST875188

All SPAB members are welcome to attend. Work includes removing any ivy re-growth from walls and tombs and cutting tree and hedge re-growth. We also hope to prepare a plan of works such as re-pointing which may be required on the site which includes Listed structures. The whole site is a Scheduled Monument. This plan will inform an application for Scheduled Monument Consent.

The tower may be open for those intrepid enough to climb the stairs.

Please bring your own food and drink. There are some logs and the grass to sit on but you may be more comfortable on your own seat.

Gloves, secateurs and hedging shears may be useful.

Please wear clothing, hats and footwear appropriate for the weather and bring sunscreen, insect repellent, plenty of water, etc.
