Kent and Surrey Group - Tudor Roof Tiles and All Saints Church

Go behind the scenes at Tudor Roof Tiles, England’s largest manufacturer of handmade clay roof tiles, before exploring one of Kent’s most remarkable historic churches.

We begin at Tudor Roof Tiles at 10.30am for an exclusive factory visit. You’ll see how traditional clay roof tiles are made using time-honoured methods and learn why handmade tiles remain vital to the repair of historic buildings. The tour will finish around 11.30am–12pm.

After time for lunch in Lydd, we reconvene at 2pm at All Saints Church, known as the 'Cathedral of the Marsh', for a guided tour led by Dr Nick Hudd of the Romney Marsh Historic Churches Trust. There is a millennium and a half of history, recent reroofing of the south aisle and work on the leaded windows to explore.

You will need

Weather-appropriate clothing and footwear suitable for factory and church environments.

Onsite parking available at Tudor Roof Tiles. On-street parking available around All Saints Church.
