Join the Dorset Group for an exclusive visit to Top ‘O’ Town House, a prominent Georgian landmark at the top of Dorchester High Street, now emerging from extensive restoration after years of use as council offices. Led by project architect Roger Hussey of Crickmay Stark Architects, the tour explores how the building’s municipal past shaped key conservation decisions. Discover how essential structural repairs, fire separation and sound insulation have been sensitively integrated into this Listed Building as it returns to domestic life.

Thursday 13 November, 10 -12.30pm

Join the Dorset Group on a vist to Top ‘O’ Town House, which occupies a dominant position at the top of the High Street in Dorchester.

For many months the building has been swathed in scaffolding as a major project of restoration has been taking place. The largely Georgian building has been occupied as council offices for many years and is now returning to domestic use.

Our visit will be lead by Roger Hussey, project architect for Crickmay Stark Architects, and is with kind permission of the owner.  We will consider the changes the building had undergone to fulfil its previous municipal function and how these have affected decisions on the current works of restoration.  The visit will focus on how necessary structural works were incorporated into the Listed Building together with the necessary fire separation and sound insulation measures.tame p
