Event details
Wednesday 8 July 2.30pm
Join the SPAB Kent & Surrey Group for a visit to Titsey Place and Gardens, including a tour of the house and gardens, a discussion of the recent conservation works to the historic dovecote, and afternoon tea in the tearoom (included).
Titsey Place has developed over centuries from Tudor origins. The present main building dates from 1775, with remodelling in the 1920s. The striking gardens offer distant views, and the walled kitchen garden (restored 1996) is a remarkable survival of Victorian horticultural techniques. The grounds also include a 19th-century dovecote that had fallen into disrepair and has recently been carefully conserved.
We will meet by the Walled Garden at 2.30pm to explore the gardens. The house tour begins at 3.30pm. Following this, we will inspect the conservation works to the dovecote with Guy Innes of the Titsey Foundation, with opportunity for questions and discussion.
The tearoom opens at noon for those who wish to have lunch before the visit. Tea is included at 5pm in the tearoom.
