Join the new SPAB Greater Manchester Group as they meet with members of the Salford Cathedral architectural team for a guided tour of the restoration. As work nears completion, this visit offers a first-hand look at the conservation approach, materials, and craftsmanship involved in renewing this 19th century Cathedral.

Participants will hear about the practical challenges of conserving historic fabric while improving the building’s accessibility, environmental performance, and long-term sustainability.

The visit will explore key aspects of the work, including external stone repairs, the addition of a sympathetic modern extension, and the creation of a new interior decorative scheme.

Led by Purcell, the project architects, the tour will appeal to anyone interested in architectural conservation, craft, and the continuing care of historic buildings.
