Introduction to Technical Drawing: Front, Side, Section and Plan Elevations and 3D Drawing - led by SPAB member Frank de Caires from On-Change

This interactive session will explore how to measure and create a layout and drawing of an object (and the same principles can be used for drawing a house, building or furniture). This can be useful when planning any building works, construction or designing objects. We will try out methods during the session together.

Tools and Materials needed:

- A3 paper (and you can sellotape 2 pieces of A4 together)
- Pencil / Pen
- 30/60 Degree Set Square (we can improvise on this if you don’t have one with cardboard)
- Ruler (300 mm) with measurements in mm (millimetres)

Contact Lucy at if you have any queries about this event.

About the skill-share: While we can't hold our usual Regional Group events and visits, we are keeping our wondeful network of members connected by holding virtual skill-share sessions. Run by members for members, these short and informal online sessions are a great way to find out more about the expertise and experience of your fellow members. We are really grateful to all the members who have volunteered to lead a session so far. If you are interested in leading a session please get in touch with our membership team: membership[at]

These sessions are only available to SPAB members, so you will need to log in to the website in order to register. Please get in touch if you don't have a log in set up yet.

IT requirements: Please note that this is an online session and will be held via a webinar platform called CrowdCast. You will be sent instructions on how to join the session when you book. To participate, all you need is an internet connection, and a laptop, computer or phone with the ability to play video and audio. On android mobiles/tablets, sessions can be accessed via either Chrome for Android or Firefox for Android. Apple mobile/tablet users will need to download the CrowdCast app.

Accessibility: please contact the SPAB before booking to discuss any special access requirements.
