Dorset Group Visit to Leweston Water Tower
Saturday 20 June, 11am
Join the Dorset Group for a visit to the remarkable listed Water Tower at Leweston. This unusual octagonal structure, built around 100 years ago in shuttered concrete with distinctive Art Deco detailing, retains a striking copper-roofed belvedere offering extensive views across the surrounding countryside.
The visit takes place by kind invitation of the owners, Patrick and Barbara Firebrace, who will host the group and provide a buffet picnic lunch included within the booking fee. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore both the exterior and interior of the building, including the accommodation that now occupies the space formerly used for the water tanks.
After lunch, the group will travel the short distance to Lillington to visit the parish church, whose nave dates from the late 13th century.
This visit offers a rare opportunity to explore an unusual, listed structure and learn more about its history and adaptation for modern living.
