Excellent preparation and communication. All aspects considered and organised in detail - essential for this type of course. All tutors really knowledgeable and able to communicate with the young students.
In addition to its annual course programme, the SPAB offers a range of courses on key conservation topics which it can deliver on a bespoke basis to other groups or organisations at the venue of their choice.
Our current range of bespoke courses is aimed at helping those who own or look after old buildings (as custodians or volunteers) to understand how they’re built and how they work. We offer practical guidance on taking action to maintain, adapt and upgrade old buildings to ensure they remain fit for use into the future.
SPAB courses on 'living with your old building' and 'conservation basics' are popular with property owners and Townscape Heritage Initiative projects around the country. The maintenance course for volunteers looking after places of worship is based on the training provided through our award-winning Faith in Maintenance project. Our well-established Old House Eco Course is especially relevant to owners, their professional advisers and practitioners developing their knowledge of how historic buildings perform and can be upgraded for greater energy efficiency without compromising their special character.
Most courses are presented at beginner/intermediate level and so are suitable for delegates from a variety of backgrounds. Courses are accredited for CPD by the Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC) and attendance certificates can be provided.
Take a look at our current range of courses and booking information, and contact the Education and Training team with any queries or to discuss your requirements. The SPAB - through its Mills Section - is also able to offer bespoke training. Contact us to discuss your requirement.
