Sir Richard Arkwright began building at Cromford in 1771 and continued to develop the mills until around 1790.The mills were originally water-powered, and remains of watercourses, etc still exist.

Opening Times:

Mill Yard, Shop and Cafe open all year, daily, 9am to 5pm (closed Christmas Day).
Visitor Centre open all year: mid-February to October, daily, 11am to 4.30pm (last entry 3.45pm); July and August, daily from 10.30am to 4.30pm; November to mid-February, daily, 11.30am to 4pm (closed Christmas Day).
