Thursday 4th October 6pm, The Guildford Arms, 1 West Register Street, Edinburgh EH2 2AA The Guildford Arms sits at the south east corner of the New Town, with ornate faience externally, the golden age of Victorian pub design is continued to the interior that has an elaborate Jacobean painted ceiling, and plasterwork of fine Victorian Rococo, the ornate bar fittings are modern reproductions and date only from 1970. Please note, during the day preceding this event, the Scottish Vernacular Buildings Working Group are having their conference on The Urban Vernacular, with a very short AGM at the start of the day. The event will be based in the Scottish Storey Telling Centre, with guided walks in the vicinty later in the day. Further details about this event can be found on their website.
