Heritage Buildings for Healthcare, member skill-share

Registration is closed for this event
Join us for the October session of our members' skill-share, led by Lauren di Pietro, who will be talking about the symbiosis of heritage and healthcare and incorporating inclusive design into heritage buildings.

Wednesday 21 October 2020, 13.30 - 14.30

The session will be focussed on the symbiosis of heritage and healthcare and the ideas that both buildings and people have stories to share. Lauren's particular speciality is in designing for dementia, but she is also an RIBA conservation registrant working towards her CA accreditation.

About Lauren: I am an Architect by profession, and a carer in my spare time, and naturally interlacing the two has meant that I spend a lot of time researching and understanding how design, and the built environment specifically, can ease the pressures on health and social care. I design by the philosophy that inclusive design, that which aids those who are challenged by the built environment, is just that; inclusive, and therefore doesn't compromise the way in which anybody can use it. Inclusive design and accessibility in particular is often a challenge for architects when working with heritage buildings, but if done correctly, the benefits can be far more than legislative and improve the experiential element of spaces for the user.
