The Hill House, Helensburgh
A modernist masterpiece 'in a box'

Presented by Bryan Dickson (Head, Building Conservation Policy - National Trust for Scotland)
5 March 2020, 18:15 - 20:30

The Hill House, Charles Rennie Macintosh's pioneering modernist house, built for Glasgow publisher Walter Blackie in 1903 using cutting-edge materials, has not withstood Scotland's weather well. Bryan Dickson will describe the NTS's approach to repairing the building, including allowing it to dry out within a temporary protective steel mesh box, designed by Carmody Groarke.

Venue: St Botolph's Church Hall, Bishopsgate, London, EC2M 3TL. The church hall is located behind St Botolph without Bishopsgate Church, which is less than a two minute walk away from Liverpool Street station (turn right out the Bishopsgate exit).

The lecture will be followed by an informal drinks reception.
