SPAB Ireland is delighted to annou nce a three-day Traditional Paint Finishes with Do n and Robin Knox. Knox and Knox is a specialist pa inting company with long experience in Gilding\, R estoration\, Murals\, Furniture Painting and all F aux finishes such as Graining and Marbling.
\n \nDonald Knox has been a specialist painter an d artist for 41 years and 25 years ago was joined in business by his son Robin\,who brought his exp erience in Furniture painting and Gilding to the p artnership. As restorers\, they have worked on Ire land’s most important buildings including Dublin C astle\, Farmleigh\, Castletown House\, Trinity Co llege (of which they are both graduates)\, Muckros s house\, Marino Casino and Caledon Castle and as muralists and gilders at the K Club\, the Mansion House\, The Guildhall\, Derry and The Dorchester H otel.
\n \nWhat will people learn: Partici
pants will learn about marbling\, of many differen
t types\, wood graining\, again different types li
ke oak\, pine and mahogany.The techniques of sten
cilling. We can touch on rag rolling\, sponging an
d stippling. Some oil gilding and at least a demo
of water gilding. At the end they should have at l
east a couple of sample boards of the their own wo
rk to take home.
