SPAB Ireland is delighted to announce a three -day Traditional Paint Finishes with Don and Robin Knox. Knox and Knox is a specialist painting comp any with long experience in Gilding\, Restoration\ , Murals\, Furniture Painting and all Faux finishe s such as Graining and Marbling.
\n \nDonal d Knox has been a specialist painter and artist fo r 41 years and 25 years ago was joined in busines s by his son Robin\,who brought his experience in Furniture painting and Gilding to the partnership. As restorers\, they have worked on Ireland’s most important buildings including Dublin Castle\, Far mleigh\, Castletown House\, Trinity College (of w hich they are both graduates)\, Muckross house\, M arino Casino and Caledon Castle and as muralists a nd gilders at the K Club\, the Mansion House\, The Guildhall\, Derry and The Dorchester Hotel.
\ n \nWhat will people learn: Participants will
learn about marbling\, of many different types\, w
ood graining\, again different types like oak\, pi
ne and mahogany.The techniques of stencilling. We
can touch on rag rolling\, sponging and stippling
. Some oil gilding and at least a demo of water gi
lding. At the end they should have at least a coup
le of sample boards of the their own work to take
home.
