at a traditional north Clare farm complex\, where
you’ll gain hands-on experience of the care and re
pair of vernacular farm buildings. There’ll be a p
articular focus on traditional stone roofing\, mas
onry\, lime-based repair and the conservation of h
istoric building fabric. The weekend will be led b
y Richard Jordan\, and Sara-Mae Jordan\, bringing
together expertise in traditional roofing\, built
heritage\, stone masonry and lime practice.

\n The site\, made up of a low single-stor
ey farmhouse with attached lean-to and pitched sto
ne-roofed sheds\, surviving flag paths and stone s
urfaces to the interiors of the outbuildings\, off
ers a valuable opportunity to understand how local
materials\, craft traditions and building forms s
haped the character of north Clare farm complexes.
Participants will learn about the significance of
stone slate roofs\, traditional repair approaches
\, and the importance of using appropriate materia
ls and methods when working with historic building
s.

\n There will be opportunities to
observe demonstrations\, take part in practical w
ork where appropriate\, and ask questions througho
ut the weekend. The format is intended to support
shared learning\, discussion and exchange between
craftspeople\, conservation professionals\, buildi
ng owners\, volunteers\, and those with an interes
t in traditional buildings.
