 r of the Church of the Holy Name\, Manchester\, wi
 th Mark Pearce of Pearce Architecture.</p>\n \n <p
 >Holy Name is one of Manchester’s most striking ch
 urch buildings: a Grade I listed Gothic Revival ch
 urch by Joseph Hansom and son\, built in 1869–71\,
  with its later tower by Adrian Gilbert Scott comp
 leted in 1928. Its dramatic scale\, slender piers 
 and rib-vaulted interior give the church an extrao
 rdinary sense of space\, while its construction co
 mbines sandstone\, brick\, terracotta and reinforc
 ed concrete. The building today is cared for by th
 e Churches Conservation Trust. </p>\n \n <p>This g
 uided visit will focus on the recent programme of 
 tower fabric repairs. Mark Pearce will explain the
  condition issues found in the tower\, the repair 
 approach taken\, and the practical challenges invo
 lved in caring for this complex historic structure
 . The works included extensive repairs to the conc
 rete structure of the tower\, renewal of the concr
 ete roof deck\, and associated repairs to roof cov
 erings\, rainwater goods\, masonry\, access routes
 \, ladders\, steps and walkways.</p>\n \n <h3>You 
 will need</h3>\n \n <p>Dress for safety\, weather 
 and practicality.</p>\n \n <h3>How to get there</h
 3>\n \n <p>20 minute walk from St. Peter’s Square 
 Metrolink.<br />\n 15 minute walk from Manchester 
 Oxford Road Train Station.</p>\n \n <p>There is no
  dedicated public car parking at the Church of the
  Holy Name\, Manchester.</p>\n \n <h3>Accessibilit
