Join the Kent and Surrey Group on a visit t o Goodnestone Park House and Gardens for a special SPAB tour of this eighteenth century house\, of G rade II* listed status\, famous for its connection s with Jane Austen and its beautiful gardens. Memb ers will learn about the curation and cataloguing of the collections of ceramics\, paintings\, books and furniture.
\n \nIn addition\, we shall
consider the reconstruction of the House since Wo
rld War Two and the major refurbishment from 2016
to 2018. The use of the House as a hospitality ven
ue brings its own set of unique problems which we
shall learn about.

\n We will be ac
companied by an experienced House guide throughout
our tour.
\n
\n Afterwards\, members a
re free to enjoy the gardens and the Old Dairy Caf
é where lunch or tea may be purchased.
Refreshments are not included on the tour but lunch or tea can be purch ased at the Old Dairy Café on site.
\n \nThe only vehicular ac
cess to the gardens is through the village of Good
nestone. Drive past the school\, the FitzWalter Ar
ms pub and village church and you will arrive at t
he car park.
