 talk by a distinguished SPAB Scholar - architect\,
  author and Westminster Abbey Surveyor of the Fabr
 ic\, Ptolemy Dean.<br />\n <br />\n Drawing on his
  new book Streetscapes: Navigating Historic Englis
 h Towns\, Ptolemy will explore the character and e
 volution of England's historic towns and the way w
 e experience the spaces between buildings. Referen
 cing places including Chichester\, one of the town
 s featured in the book\, he will revisit the tradi
 tion of townscape analysis associated with writers
  such as Gordon Cullen and Alec Clifton-Taylor and
  consider its continuing relevance today.<br />\n 
 <br />\n This event will appeal to anyone with an 
 interest in historic towns and places\, including 
 conservation officers\, architects\, heritage prof
 essionals and members of the public. There will be
  an opportunity to hear directly from one of the c
 ountry's leading conservation architects and to de
 epen your understanding of the historic urban envi
 ronment.<br />\n <br />\n The talk is expected to 
 finish at approximately 6pm. We are grateful to Le
 wes Town Council for hosting this event.</p>\n \n
