 about the history and work of SPAB. Hear about our
  history\, membership and some of the famous build
 ings we have sought to protect over the last 149 y
 ears.</p>\n \n <p>Founded by William Morris in 187
 7\, the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buil
 dings (SPAB) was established in response to the wo
 rk of Victorian architects whose enthusiasm for ha
 rmful restoration caused irreparable damage. Today
  we encourage excellence in new design to enrich a
 nd complement the built historic environment. We t
 rain new generations of architectural professional
 s and building craftspeople to shape this landscap
 e with sensitivity and skill\, and play a statutor
 y role as adviser to local planning authorities. <
 /p>\n \n <h3>Speakers </h3>\n \n <p>The talk is pr
 esented on behalf of the SPAB by<strong> James Inn
 erdale</strong> and <strong>Libby Watts</strong>. 
 James is an accredited architect\, historic buildi
 ngs consultant and SPAB Technical Adviser. Libby i
 s a RIBA Specialist Conservation Architect\, direc
 tor of Liberty Rose Architects and SPAB Education 
 and Training Guardian. </p>\n \n <p><a href="https
