This course provides delegates with practical guidance on traditional flour milling using horizontal millstones, from purchasing grain to delivering flour to the customer.

A popular course aimed at all those involved in flour milling in traditional wind or water mills.

Delegates will spend a day gaining hands-on experience of running the windmill under the careful supervision of highly skilled, traditional millers. There will be practical experience of starting and stopping the mill, milling different types of flour, dressing flour, moving grain around the mill, and bagging up, plus insight into selling flour. This instructive and enjoyable day will also include discussion on the needs of artisan bakers.

Venue:     Fosters Mill, Swaffham Prior, Cambridgeshire  
Time:       9.30am to 4.30pm
Cost:        £90 per person (early-bird rate until 18 August 2017); thereafter £120 pp 

The course will take place in a working windmill but the know-how gained will be relevant to all those involved traditional in flour milling, whether by wind or water power. The course price includes course notes, lunch and refreshments during the day.
